Hi, I'm Anissa Joan, a graphic designer from New Jersey.
My current position.
As the Director of Marketing and Design for Greenleaf Pet Resort, I conceptualize, develop, and execute creative design across print, web, and social media, including billboards, email blasts, meta ads, and more. Through that work, I built on and solidified the company's district branding within the pet boarding industry.
Through my project management, a cross-functional team executes successful marketing initiatives, enhances the company's brand, and improves customer engagement. I collaborate closely with management to develop effective marketing materials that drive lead generation. Additionally, under my art direction, the in-house photographer(s) produce a curated catalog of custom photographs used across all marketing channels.
What I’m looking for.
Graphic design is a puzzle with pieces you have to make mailable so they fit into place, and I love it. I am looking for projects/work that allow me to leverage my proven expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite and art direction, stretch my creative muscles, and apply my problem-solving skills in new, exciting, and meaningful ways. Bonus points if those projects/work live in the realms of my passions for travel, architecture, tattoos, or books.
So, if you have a graphic design job and my portfolio and experience fit your needs and the vibe you're aiming for, send me an email or a text, and we can bring your idea to life.
Please don't call me first. I'm a millennial with social anxiety. I will not answer.
My process.
My process starts with exploring a wide range of designs. Even if the work or subjects have nothing to do with my project, I’m there for the inspiration. Vivid color pallets, graphic type treatments, unique photography angles, and whimsical illustrations draw me in and get me thinking. I also frequently take inspiration from life. Scattered across my camera roll are photos of paint smudges on sidewalks, oil slicks, cream cheese bagels, random buildings, just about anything after it rains, and enough book covers to fill the library of my dreams, all because they caught my eye. I wanted to save them for later.
From there, my process is pretty straightforward, I feel. First, hand-drawn thumbnails, then roughs, followed by a couple of digital comps (amid a chaotic pasteboard and three other versions with slight differences), before we get to the vFINAL_NoReally file and final project.
What I love.
Having grown up drawing, I love returning to traditional art mediums in my free time and exploring styles and techniques I’ve yet to try. Lately, the bold aesthetics of the ’60s and ’70s have been fueling my creative energy. Beyond my own art and design, I adore exploring the world through travel and food, appreciating striking, old architecture, collecting tattoos, and getting lost in good books: all of which continually shape my visual perspective.
Thank you for your time, and we'll talk soon.
